East Providence, RI – Councilman Frank Rego, candidate for re-election to the Ward 1 seat on the East Providence City Council, has been endorsed by IBPO Local 569, the union representing the officers of the East Providence Police Department.
In a public statement, the union pointed to Rego’s record on public safety and his role in the recent renovations at the city’s police headquarters, thanking him for “leading the charge in those efforts.”
The union described Rego as “a true supporter of the East Providence Police Department” and noted that he has made public safety for his constituents one of his top priorities. The statement also credited the Councilman for supporting efforts to ensure the city’s police and fire personnel are properly taken care of, an approach the union said helps guarantee that East Providence and Ward 1 receive strong public safety services.
“I’m deeply honored to have the support of the men and women of IBPO Local 569,” said Councilman Rego. “The officers who protect our neighborhoods see this work up close, and their trust means a great deal to me. Keeping our community safe, and making sure those who serve it are supported, has always been one of my highest priorities, and it will remain so.”
The endorsement underscores a central theme of Rego’s re-election campaign: a proven record on public safety that includes supporting the modernization of the East Providence Police Station and expanding rescue coverage at Fire Station #3, where he continues to push for full 24-hour service.
Councilman Rego is seeking the continued support of Ward 1 residents ahead of the Non-Partisan Primary on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. To learn more, visit www.RegoWard1.com.
