East Providence High School 1995 graduate Jennifer Griffith was inducted into the EPHS Hall of Fame in 2022. Due to an illness, she was unable to attend the induction ceremony. Griffith will be in attendance during the October 20, 2024 induction to receive her award. “The HOF committee is very pleased that Ms. Griffith is able to join with her fellow Townies at the 2024 ceremony,” said HOF chairman Greg Dias. “We invite her many friends and associates to join us and honor this wonderful recipient,” Dias added.

Jennifer Griffith is a 1995 graduate of East Providence High School. In high school, she was the Senior Class President, and captain of the girls’ tennis team. Jen received her bachelors’ degree from the College of Holy Cross and her Juris Doctorate from Roger Williams Law School. She is licensed to practice law in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and the United States Federal District Court of Rhode Island. Griffith is a member of the Rhode Island Women's Bar Association and the Rhode Island Bench/Bar Committee and serves on the Executive Board of the Edward P. Gallogly American Inn of Court, the Executive Board of the Rhode Island Family Court, the Rhode Island Family Court Bench Bar Committee, the Rhode Island Children’s Cabinet, the Rhode Island Child Care Commission, the Rhode Island Child Support Advisory Committee, and the Rhode Island Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee. Also, she was appointed to the East Providence Waterfront Commission in 2019.

Rhode Island Secretary of State Gregg Amore recently announced that Griffith has joined the RI Department of State as Legal Counsel. “We are honored to have Jennifer join our team as Legal Counsel for the Rhode Island Department of State. Her immense experience in State government and the legal system will be a tremendous asset in our efforts to strengthen our democracy, improve our elections systems, and increase civic education," continued Amore.

Prior to joining the Department of State, Griffith served as the State of Rhode Island's Child Advocate, having been appointed in 2016 by Governor Gina Raimondo. As Child Advocate, Griffith conducted many investigations resulting in improved safety of children in State care and the child welfare system in Rhode Island, including significant changes to the practices of the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families. Under her leadership, the Office of the Child Advocate doubled its staff and budget. She led several high-profile investigations and reports resulting in the closure of several group homes due to criminal activity, and enactment of several significant changes to the DCYF. Before being appointed as Child Advocate, Griffith served as a staff attorney for Rhode Island Legal Services for ten years, representing low-income clients in all family court matters.
