Seed Saving & Swap
On Mon. April 13 at 6:30 Sharon from Brilliant Dahlia Flower Farm will talk about seed saving and will offer some seeds for you to take home. Free, no registration required.

Puzzle-A-Thon
On Sat. April 25 from 1-3pm there will be a fun afternoon of puzzle competition. Teams of 2 of 4 will race to complete a 300-piece puzzle for prizes. For ages 5 and up. Call or stop by to register and review rules.

Through Me to You Puppetry  
On Wed. April 22 at 10:30, join Leigh Baltzer along with Newton and his puppet friends as they take turns reading stories and singing songs with the audience.  A fun way to share a story time. Children will have an opportunity to explore some of the puppets that Leigh brings.  A 30-minute puppet program followed by a Puppet Free Play.  Geared to ages 3-7, but all are welcome!

Story Hours

  • Stories and Songs for Littles will be on Mon. April 6 at 10:30.
  • Legos at the Library will next be offered on Sat. April 11 from 11 to 2. Come by and make something special.
  • Tot Time with Miss Joyce for children under 3 is on Tuesdays at 10:30 and Story Hours with Miss Cathy for children ages 3 and up is on Thursdays at 10:30. Siblings are welcome to both groups.

Poetry in April
April is poetry month. Do you write poetry? Anytime during April, email your original poems to sbeskid@sailsinc.org or drop them off at the library and we will display them for all to read! All ages and styles of poetry welcome. If you are not yet a poet, stop in to try your hand at our poetry board or check out some poetry to take home and ponder.

Paper Shredding
In honor of Earth Day, paper shredding will be available on Friday April 24 from 10 to 1. Call the library for more information.

Earth Day Succulent Class
Join us for an Earth Day succulent tea cup planting class on Wed. April 15 starting at 4. This is a drop-in class and the cost is $5 at the door. All profits will go to Keep Rehoboth Beautiful.   

Concerts April 8 & May 13

  • Musicians Andrew Lewis and Margaret Ferri return to the library to present their award-winning musical program "The Coffeehouse", which focuses on the historic period of the popular coffeehouse scene of the 1960s and the 1970s. Free, Wed. April 8 at 6:30.
  • Matt York returns to the library on Wed. May 13 at 6:30, focusing on Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash and how their musical friendship merged country and folk traditions. Matt York has twice been nominated for the Boston Music Award for Best Country Artist and he recently released his second book, The Words and Wisdom of Willie Nelson.  This program is supported in part by a grant from the Rehoboth Local Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Ongoing Programs

  • The weekly history discussion group led by Hank Coleman meets at 11am each Wednesday. Open to all with an interest in history; for more information contact hjcoleman@comcast.net.          
  • The Blanding offers two monthly book groups; one meets on Monday evenings and one on Wednesday afternoons. Call the library for more information.
  • Knit Night at the library meets one Thursday evening a month from 6:30 to 8. They will next meet on April 16. For adults and teens to get together and work on their knitting projects.

The Blanding Public Library, at 124 Bay State Rd., Rehoboth is open Monday through Thursday from 10 to 8, and on Friday and Saturdays from 10 to 4. Closed Sundays and holidays, including Mon. April 20 for Patriots’ Day.
