Annual Book Sale Coming Up
Mark your calendars for our annual used book sale and raffle in early October, sponsored by the Friends of the Blanding Library. 

  • Friday Oct. 9, 5-7, Friends preview sale. New members can sign up at that time
  • Saturday Oct. 10, from 10-3 General sale
  • Sunday Oct. 11, from 12-3 Clearance sale with books $10 a bag. Bags will be provided by the Friends

The Friends are still accepting donations of books, games, puzzles, DVDs, and CDs up until Saturday, Sept. 19. Please drop your donations off inside the library during regular business hours.        

All about Mushrooms Sept 8
Come to the “Mushroom Chat and Chomp” on Tues. Sept. 8 at 6:30 to learn all about mushrooms. The Blanding Library in partnership with the Rehoboth Land Trust welcome the Mushroom Hunting Society in presenting this program. Learn all about the when, where, and how of responsible mushroom foraging. This will be followed by a cooking demonstration on how to prepare your findings. Please register for this event by sending your name, phone, and number of people in your group to info@rehobothlandtrust.net 

“Here in New England” Oct. 3
The Blanding is pleased to present Mel Allen, former editor of Yankee Magazine and author of "Here in New England" on Sat. Oct. 3 at 1 pm. Mel will regale us with unforgettable stories of people, places, and memories that connect us all. Not to be missed! Free and open to all.

Library Card Sign-Up Month 
September is library card signup month. The Blanding is encouraging local residents (5yrs and older) who do not yet own a library card to visit the Rehoboth Blanding Library and apply for their card free! Find out all the things your library has to offer.

Tot Time and Story Hours                
We have new days for Tot Time and Story Hour starting this fall. Tot Time with Miss Joyce will be on Thursdays at 10:30am, beginning Sept. 10 and Story Hours for children ages 3 and up will be on Mondays at 10:30 starting Sept. 13.    

LEGOS returns Sat., Sept. 12 from 11am to 2pm.  We'll supply the LEGOS; you supply the imagination.  All ages are welcome.  No registration needed.

Yoga & Stories Sept. 8
Yoga instructor Rebecca Mele will lead this program on Tues. Sept. 8 at 10:30. Each child will be guided (with their adult), to develop strength, coordination and balance using breath, musical yoga songs, and art activities. Miss Jocelyn from PACE will offer stories. This program is for children from infants to age 5. Family members are welcome. Registration is required. Call 508-252-4236.  Please bring a yoga mat and a water bottle (small carpet squares are available)   

Ongoing Programs
The Blanding has two book groups, one that meets on the first Monday evening of the month at 7pm and the other on the second Wednesday at 3pm.  Contact the library for more information.

Knit Night starts up again on September 17 at 6:30pm and meets every third Thursday of the month. No sign up necessary, stop in and join the group!

Hank Coleman’s history discussion group will begin meeting again on Wednesday mornings later this month. Contact hjcoleman@comcast.net for more information.
