Dorothy Ann (Nolan) Hutson,96, known to all as Dorothy, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Bayberry Commons Nursing Home. She was born on February 10, 1930, in Providence, Rhode Island, and lived a long life marked by devotion to her family, her profession, and the many simple joys that brought her happiness.

Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late John Patrick Hutson. She was the devoted daughter of the late Frederick and Sarah Fallon Nolan. She was also the loving mother of John Hutson, retired from EPFD, and his wife Therese of Rehoboth, Robert Hutson and his wife Karen, and Patricia Girard. Her family was the center of her life, and she carried each of them in her heart with unwavering love and pride.

She was the cherished sister of Frederick Nolan of Barrington and the late Marion Nolan and Elizabeth Smith. She was also deeply loved by her devoted niece, Donna Latondres. Dorothy was the treasured grandmother of Kelli Sutter, John Matthew Hutson, Sgt. Gregory Hutson of the Newport Police Department, Brendon Hutson, and Bradley Hutson of the United States Air Force. She was a proud great-grandmother to Miles Hutson, Hayden Sutter, Madelyn Hutson, and Maxwell Hutson. Her family was blessed by her steady presence, her kind spirit, and the gentle strength she shared so freely.

Dorothy dedicated more than 40 years of her life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Morton Hospital and at hospitals in Florida. Her work reflected the compassion, patience, and commitment that were such an important part of who she was. She brought comfort to countless patients and support to the many people who worked alongside her. Her career was a true expression of her loving and giving nature, and she was respected for the care she provided throughout her long years of service.

Dorothy lived in East Providence for the past 10 years, having come from Florida and Rehoboth. She was a member of the former Cabarama Club and enjoyed the companionship and social connection that came with that association. In her leisure time, she found joy in painting pictures, especially those inspired by the beauty around her. She loved birds and took delight in watching them, and she especially enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. These interests reflected her creative spirit and her appreciation for the world and its many wonders.

Those who knew Dorothy will remember her as loving, kind, and creative. She had a warm heart, a gentle manner, and a thoughtful way of making others feel welcome and cared for. Her life was one of devotion to family, service to others, and quiet enjoyment of the many things she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, grace, and enduring affection that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Committal service was held on Monday September 21,2026 at 10:30am in the Chapel of Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence .
