September at the Rehoboth Food Pantry

Back to School, and Here All Year

Posted

September brings a familiar change to Rehoboth. Summer begins to give way to cooler days, school buses return to our roads, backpacks appear by front doors, and families settle once again into the routines of a new school year.

At the Rehoboth Food Pantry, it is also a good time to share an important reminder with our community: the need for a helping hand doesn't belong to any one season, and neither does the Pantry. We are here all year.

The generosity we see around Thanksgiving and the winter holidays is extraordinary, and we are deeply grateful for it. But families can face difficult circumstances at any time of year. Groceries still need to find their way onto tables in September, January, April, and July. Every donation made throughout the year helps ensure that when a neighbor needs us, the Pantry is ready to welcome them.

Helping Rehoboth Students Start the Year Strong

We begin this month with a very special thank you to the Rehoboth Congregational Church Mission Committee, whose members assembled 15 backpacks filled with school supplies for local children.

Many of the backpacks have already found their way to students beginning the new school year, and several remain available. We are tremendously grateful to the Mission Committee for thinking not only about food for our neighbors, but also about helping children begin their school year with the supplies they need.

The Mission Committee also donated many bags of food—and once again went the extra mile by dating the donated items before bringing them to us. That simple act is an enormous help to our volunteers as they sort and stock the Pantry, and we truly appreciate the additional care.

A Community That Continues to Give

Our heartfelt thanks also go to the Horton Estates Birthday Group, which once again turned a celebration into an opportunity to help others by donating many bags of food to the Pantry.

We are delighted to welcome the generosity of The Reserve at Spring Hill, located off Spring Street, whose community collected and delivered many bags of food donations.

And both groups helped our volunteers by making sure their donated items were dated. Thank you!

We also extend our continued gratitude to the West Dighton Christian Church for its ongoing monthly donations. Reliable support throughout the year makes an enormous difference in helping us keep our shelves stocked and ready for the neighbors who depend upon the Pantry.

As always, the wonderful folks at the Rehoboth Reporter consistently provide us space to share our messages with you.  We are deeply grateful!

Our community drop-off locations have also been collecting especially large amounts of food recently. To every person who has placed a can, box, bag, or other needed item into one of those collection areas: thank you.

We may never know every name behind those donations, but we see the result of your generosity each week on our shelves.

An Easy Way to Help

Want to help keep the Pantry stocked but don't have time to shop or visit one of our drop-off locations? Donating online is quick and easy, and every contribution helps us purchase the food and supplies our neighbors need throughout the year.

Online donations also give the Pantry the flexibility to purchase items that may be running low on our shelves when they're needed most.

Simply visit the Rehoboth Food Pantry website https://rehobothfoodpantryma.org/  and choose the online donation option. Whether it's $5, $25, or any amount you choose, every gift becomes part of the year-round support our community provides to neighbors who need a helping hand.

Pantry Hours: Thursdays, 2:30–4:30 PM

A Very Special Thanks for our Food Donation Drop-Off Locations: Blanding Public Library, Harvest Tap & Table, Land-Tek Supply, Munroe Feed & Supply

Please remember that the Pantry building is not staffed every day, so we kindly ask that donations not be left outside the building. Using one of our community drop-off locations helps ensure that donations are received safely and can be put to good use.

To everyone who continues to help add to our food supplies throughout the year, thank you.

Together, Rehoboth continues to show that neighbors helping neighbors never goes out of season.
