Schools In the Summer. Not Summer School.

What happens at the schools during the summer? If you visit any public schools in the country, you will see amazing work being done. Desks are in the hallway. Floors are washed, stripped, waxed, and buffed out. They shine! All other items are washed. Imagine what the custodial staff finds in the lockers before they are emptied and cleaned?

To me the most impressive room in the school is the gymnasium. The gym floor is prepped and treated the same as classrooms. You can see your reflection in it! Again, think of what is emptied out of the lockers in the locker room.

Custodians and maintenance personnel work endlessly all summer to restore the school to sparkling clean. Having been in education my entire career, the transformation and beauty is noticeable and remarkable. I would like to take this letter and say thank you to all the custodial/maintenance staff throughout our country.
