Osamequin Farm and Country Carpenters Celebrate the Rebuilding of Hickory Grove

Posted

SEEKONK, MA — Osamequin Farm and Country Carpenters invite the community to a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, September 12, from 4 - 6pm, marking the completion of the Hickory Grove rebuild following the fire that struck Osamequin Farm in April.

In less than five months, the site has been transformed into a new public-facing farm stand and wash-and-pack pavilion designed to better serve Osamequin Farm’s visitors, staff, and Resident Farmers. The new structures were built in partnership with Country Carpenters, whose traditional post-and-beam construction helped shape a space that feels both new and deeply at home in the farm landscape.

The September 12 celebration will be a chance to see the rebuilt Hickory Grove firsthand and celebrate the extraordinary turnaround from the April fire to today. Visitors will be able to explore the new farm stand, meet the Country Carpenters team behind the design, connect with some of the farmers who share the land at Osamequin Farm, and tour the new wash-and-pack pavilion to learn how the space will support small-scale agricultural production on the farm. The event will also include opportunities for community members to share ideas about the farm and how these new spaces can best serve the people who use them.

“We could not have made this kind of turnaround without the people who rallied around Osamequin after the fire,” said Sarah Newkirk, Executive Director of Osamequin Farm. “From the friends of the farm who donated so generously to the dozens of skilled volunteers who shared their time and expertise, we have been humbled by the way our community showed up for us. We’re so grateful to welcome everyone back and show them what they helped make possible!”

About Osamequin Farm

Osamequin Farm is a nonprofit working farm and community space in Seekonk, Massachusetts. Founded in 2018, our mission is to share the historic land of Osamequin Farm by hosting a cooperative of small-scale farmers, public gatherings, and educational opportunities for our community.

Our work is rooted in cooperation, collaboration, and stewardship. We share farmland and infrastructure with Resident Farmers, grow organic fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs, and welcome people onto the land through workshops, youth programs, Pick Your Own, guided hikes, and community events. Across all of this work, we aim to care for the land responsibly while creating meaningful opportunities for people to grow, learn, and connect.
