Light Pollution

Posted

Living in a rural town we are lucky to still be able to see the stars at night unlike people in nearby cities. However, as more people install bright unshielded lights, we slowly lose that privilege due to light pollution. Also, artificial light at night can affect native animals' sleeping patterns. With the Rehoboth land trust hosting a “Dark Skies” event on April twelfth, now is the perfect time to think about how we light our homes. This doesn't mean we have to live in the dark, we can use downward facing outdoor lights and motion sensors to make sure future generations can still see the stars at night.
