“I didn’t grow up in East Providence. I married a Riverside guy. I knew immediately this was a great place to live and raise kids. I did PTA, little league coach, St Brendan’s CYO basketball, etc. My grandkids are now all students in EP. I cannot thank the residents here enough, many of whom I do not know, who have sent contributions and support for my grandson Aiden. East Providence is a great town, thank you all,” writes the loving grandmother of a grandson who has had more than his share of medical issues. Along with those issues, unfortunately come expenses. Jane Brindisi Crevier grew up in Worcester, MA, but has lived in East Providence for many years now. Brindisi-Crevier works in the hospitality industry and has organized support and fundraising drives for many in the community through the years. In many cases, people she didn’t know very well, but was always willing to lend a hand to help others in need. The community is returning the kindness.
Jane’s grandson, Aiden Correira, is now a sophomore at East Providence High School. His long medical journey began when he was an elementary school student. He was born with a condition that affects 1 in 200,000 births. He was born with Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency (PFFD). PFFD is a rare, non-hereditary birth defect that affects the pelvis, particularly the hip bone, and the proximal femur. The disorder may affect one side or both, with the hip being deformed and the leg shortened. “We were told Aiden would never walk, run, ride a bike or play in sports like other kids unless he had an amputation. Deciding against amputation, we found a world-renowned orthopedic surgeon named Dror Paley, who could correct the deformity and help Aiden lead a normal, healthy, happy and functional life,” said Aiden’s mom Brittney Crevier. Brittney along with Aiden’s grandmother and other family and friends began hosting fundraisers to help with medical costs not covered by health insurance. Aiden is facing his 23rd surgery, a continuing leg lengthening surgery which takes place in Florida at the Paley Institute. The Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute offers patients and visiting surgeons the most technologically advanced limb lengthening and deformity correction treatments available in the world today.
Aiden has made significant progress and has missed a lot of school, but he continues to improve and is now at the high school. While insurance pays for many of the medical costs, there are many expenses associated with living arrangements, transportation and other medical equipment not covered by insurance. Step in Brindisi-Crevier and friends. “A fundraiser will be held to help cover extenuating costs and to help relieve the financial burden that comes with helping Aiden achieve having his own 2 feet on the ground,” said event organizers. Aiden and his mom will have to be housed near the Paley Center for the duration of the treatment. During this time, he will be undergoing a complicated lengthening process as well as receiving complex specialized physical therapy. Prior surgeries have required Aiden to undergo at least one 8 month stay at The Paley Institute.
“Our fundraiser and rally for Aiden will be held on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Columbus Hall, 3200 Pawtucket Avenue, Riverside, RI. There will be music, raffles, some food and lots of cheer for Aiden,” said Brindisi-Crevier. “I appreciate the community feedback we’ve been receiving.”
Event organizers are graciously accepting donations for the event from anyone who wants to help. Gift cards, themed baskets (sports, movie night, event tickets, etc. are welcomed). Those wishing to donate gifts/raffle items ahead of the event can contact Jane Crevier at 401-954-7798. There are no tickets or costs to attend the May 3rd fundraiser, but organizers would humbly accept cash donations at the door.
The family experienced further stress when Aiden’s dad, Joseph “Joey” Crevier died unexpectedly in November of 2020 at the age of 30. Joey Crevier attended East Providence High School and was a proud U.S. Army Sergeant and veteran of the war in Afghanistan. With all that Aiden has faced in his young life, he has come a long way.
If you would like to help support Aiden and family but can’t attend the May 3rd fundraiser, donations can be made out to Venmo: @brittney-crevier.
