Apple Days Returns to Hornbine School Museum

Posted

Celebrate this fall the old‑fashioned way — with children-friendly games, fun activities, fresh cider and donuts, and a community yard sale at Hornbine School Museum’s APPLE DAYS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4th, 2 – 4 PM! We kindly ask for a $5 donation per family attending. Yard Sale shoppers will be invited to suggest their own prices for items they wish to purchase. Those interested in selling may reserve a table for a $5 donation. To sign up for a yard sale table, please email hornbineschool@gmail.com.

ACTIVITIES: Visitors can enjoy corn husk doll making and a wide selection of old‑fashioned games, including Graces, ball‑in‑cup, memory matching, bean bag toss, and Hornbine Hoops. Additional activities include our new Hornbine puzzle, a scavenger hunt, coloring pages, maze and unscramble sheets, and the chance to write on slates or try an old‑fashioned ink‑and‑feather pen.

REFRESHMENTS: We will serve apple cider (small cups for children and regular cups for adults) along with apple cider donuts.

HORNBINE ITEMS FOR SALE: include our Hornbine magnets, Jacob’s Ladder, cup-n-ball and grab bags filled with a wooden top or yo‑yo, a pencil, and candy.

VISIT HORNBINE SCHOOL MUSEUM on SEPTEMBER 13TH & 27TH FROM 2–4 PM to explore our special exhibit, “The 3 R’s: Road to Revolution in Rehoboth.” Discover local connections to key Revolutionary War figures, examine Colonial Currency, and enjoy a pictorial alphabet of Colonial America. Try your hand at signing our Declaration of Independence with a feather pen. Join in scavenger hunts for young visitors, and play our classic Old‑Fashioned Yard Games.
