Angels’ Care Closet Celebrates Grand Opening

Posted

Angels’ Care Closet celebrated the grand opening of its new location at 1515 Newman Avenue in Seekonk on Saturday, September 5, welcoming community leaders, supporters, volunteers, board members and friends to mark an important milestone for the growing nonprofit.

The new location provides Angels’ Care Closet with additional space to collect, organize and distribute clothing, toiletries, housewares and other essentials to people in need. The organization provides access to quality essentials in a welcoming environment where individuals can receive assistance with dignity and without judgment.

“This grand opening is about so much more than opening the doors to a new location,” said the Angels’ Care Closet team. “It is about celebrating the people in our community who have supported this mission and helped us get to this point. We are incredibly grateful for every person who has believed in Angels’ Care Closet and contributed their time, resources and encouragement.”

Among those in attendance at the celebration were Representative Steven Howitt, Representative Jim Hawkins, Abigail Bayley, Director of Constituent Services and representative for Senator Kelly Dooner, Selectperson Elizabeth Elmasian, and Selectperson Chris Zorra. Angels’ Care Closet expressed its appreciation for their support of the organization and its work in the community.

The organization also recognized its Board of Directors and dedicated volunteers, whose efforts are essential to the day-to-day operation and continued growth of Angels’ Care Closet.

“We could not do this without our volunteers and our supporters,” Founder Melissa Miller Emerson said. “They are the heart of what we do. Every donation, every hour volunteered and every act of kindness helps us reach another person who needs a little help.”

The new Seekonk location represents an opportunity for Angels’ Care Closet to broaden its services and reach more individuals and families throughout the area. While the organization has grown, its mission remains simple: to help people access the essentials they need in a dignified environment.

Saturday’s grand opening was a celebration not only of a new location, but also of the community effort behind it.

“Angels’ Care Closet belongs to the community,” the organization said. “This is a place where people can come for help, but it is also a place where people can come together to help one another.”
