Seekonk High School has officially been designated by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to offer a state-designated Career Technical Education (CTE) Program in Multimedia and Broadcast Production.
“This designation is an important accomplishment for our school and, more importantly, creates new opportunities for our students to explore careers in an exciting and growing field,” Principal William Whalen said on September 3. “Through this program, students will have opportunities to develop meaningful technical skills, earn industry-recognized credentials, participate in work-based learning experiences, and make informed decisions about their education and career paths after high school.”
“The Multimedia and Broadcast Production program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation that can prepare them for continued education, post-secondary training, or employment in the industry,” Whalen continued. “Students will have the opportunity to apply what they learn in authentic, hands-on settings while developing skills that extend well beyond the classroom.”
Whalen also announced that the high school has been approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to offer two state-designated Innovation Pathways: Business and Finance as well as Clean Energy.
Whalen said the approval of the two Innovation Pathways “represents an exciting expansion of our efforts to connect students’ high school experiences with college, careers, and the world beyond the classroom.”
The Clean Energy Innovation Pathway “will provide students with opportunities to explore engineering, environmental science, clean energy technologies, and other emerging fields that will play an important role in our future economy,” Whalen added. “Students will engage in hands-on learning and develop the technical and problem-solving skills necessary to pursue further education and careers in these areas.”
