The Seekonk School Committee approved a list of goals for the upcoming school year at their July 6 meeting. The goals are as follows:
By July 2027, the School Committee will develop, revise, and approve a yearly working calendar of School Committee agenda topics, focusing on the areas of budget, policy, Superintendent evaluation, and Committee business, as measured by a draft 2027-2028 Working Calendar.
By June 2027, the School Committee will implement the new district Strategy for Success and Strategic Plan, specifically with reference to budgetary and capital planning, as measured by data gathered in response to elements of the published five year plan.
By April 2027, the School Committee will implement steps for both long-term and short-term facilities needs, driven by student learning, community input, and shared planning across Town departments, as measured by a timeline shared publicly and with Town leadership.
Beginning in July 2026, the Committee, both as a whole and through the Building & Facilities Subcommittee, will convene a School Building Committee and complete the elements of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) Module I: Eligibility Period.
By November 2026, the Committee in collaboration with the School Building Committee will pursue funding for an MSBA Feasibility Study in accordance with the Town Charter stipulations.
By April 2027, the Committee, both as a whole and through the work of the Building & Facilities Subcommittee and School Building Committee, will move forward with steps in implementing any changes for the 2026-2027 school year as well as the Feasibility Study period for the MSBA (if approved).
By October 2027, the School Committee will implement and review the approved evaluation process for the Seekonk Superintendent of Schools, as measured by a completed evaluation for the 2026-2027 school year and approval of any revisions to the process for 2027-2028.
