Jeanne M. (Fiore) Toole

Posted

Jeanne M. (Fiore) Toole, 90, gently passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 22, just seven weeks after the passing of her husband of 63 years, Philip B. Toole, 91. She leaves two grateful daughters, Martha Mary Murray (Michael) of Warwick and Maura Legare (Robert) of East Greenwich, her devoted sisters Maureen Loiselle and Dorothy Mercure both of North Providence, and five adoring grandchildren: Michael Murray Jr. (Gillian), Philip Murray, Robert Legare Jr. (Sarah), Daniel Legare, and Mae Legare. Jeanne also reveled in her role as great-grandmother to Brynn, Morgan, and Emerson Murray.

Born in Providence, RI in 1931 to Paul J. and Irene V. (Mulholland) Fiore, Jeanne was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy of the Visitation. She went on to work as a dental assistant to Dr. Charles Cannon before taking on her most prized role as ever-present caretaker and source of comfort for her fortunate family and friends. A daily communicant, Jeanne’s devotion to the Blessed Mother and her Catholic faith was enduring and served as an example to all who knew her.

She and Phil married in 1958 and dedicated themselves to their faith, family and community throughout 63-plus years of marriage until his recent passing. Raising her family with dedication, affection, compassion, boundless energy and grace, Jeanne’s love and zest for life shone brightly in her dazzling blue eyes. Her beauty and impeccable style mirrored her inner spirit and kindness to all, befriending all whom she encountered with her captivating charm.

Jeanne embodied God’s call to love and serve others, volunteering in the classrooms of St. Margaret’s School, and at Women and Infants’ Hospital, both with the Women’s Auxiliary and the Vulnerable Infant Program. For decades, she lovingly held, rocked, soothed and sang to hundreds of babies in need of extra love, treating them as if they were her own. An accomplished artist and calligrapher, she loved to share her talents with thoughtful cards, gifts and prayers, never forgetting a birthday or “church birthday” of her dear lifelong friends, family and beloved godchildren, whom she cherished dearly. Her love knew no bounds, from a vulnerable newborn in the nursery to her family and lifelong friends, she showered all with undivided attention, warm affection, and fervent prayers. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life and the lucky recipients of her words of wisdom, sense of fun, faithful prayers, and thoughtful remembrances of special occasions large and small. We will miss her beyond words but are comforted that her time on earth without dad was brief and they are now together in heaven.

She was predeceased by her sisters Agnes Jonas, Rosemarie McCurdy, and Claire Macomb and her brother Paul V. Fiore. She is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 26th at 11:00AM at St. Margaret’s Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence. Calling hours are respectfully omitted and the burial will be private. In lieu of flowers and for those wishing to honor Jeanne’s memory, donations would be most appreciated to either St. Margaret’s School, 42 Bishop Avenue Rumford, RI 02916, or St. Antoine’s Home, 10 Rhodes Place, N. Smithfield, RI 02896. www.OneillFuneralHomes.com
