Summer at the Library
Come in and get your reading log, bookmarks, brag tags, and more. The Blanding will be offering lots of amazing programs this summer.  The library will feature Statewide Reading Challenges for those entering middle school through high school, as well as assigned summer reading books.

“Plant a seed – Read” is the theme for the summer reading program. There will be a seed scavenger hunt during the month of July. Find them all for a small prize.

There is an adult reading challenge too, which will continue till Aug.15. Keep track of all the books you read this summer on a bookmark, bring the bookmark to the library by Aug. 15 and receive as many chances to win a prize as books you have read. Prize drawing on Aug. 17.

Garden Science July 8
The Children's Museum in Easton will be offering Summer Garden Science. on Wed. July 8 at 11 for children K through grade 4. Space is limited so call ahead for reservations. Sponsored by the Rehoboth Cultural Council, a local agency supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Story Hour Welcomes Carla July 9
Bring the kids to see author/illustrator Carla Marrero as she shares her well-known stories of her cats' adventures. Several stories will be read, followed by a simple craft. Thurs. July 9 at 10:30.

Children's Felting Workshop July 11
Join the Carpenter Museum at Blanding Library on Sat. July 11 from 10:30 to noon for a hands-on family friendly workshop to learn the history and art of felting. Email Chelsea Johnston at carpentermuseum@gmail.com to register or call 508-252-3031. This is a free event for all ages (8 and up) and is sponsored by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Mini Big Top July 13
A circus show and workshop with Small But Mighty featuring CIrcus Celia and Little L, will be on Mon. July 13 from 10:30 to 11:30 with free admission. This program is funded by the Rehoboth Cultural Council, a local agency of the Mass Cultural Council.

Science Heroes: Digging It!  July 20
Volunteers help us conduct exciting experiments while we celebrate all the scientists who work with dirt!  Fun and exciting science experiments for the whole family on July 20 at 11. Sponsored by the Friends of the Blanding Library.

 Kid's Coloring Books Concert July 21
Bring the little ones to the library on July 21 at 10:30 for a half-hour concert of kids' music with Sarah Martin, Nashville recording artist and local author.  Sarah will present her book and songs, then kids will have an opportunity to strum her guitar, take pictures, and purchase their own Rainbow Workshop Song coloring books.  Siblings may attend.

Edible Science on July 23
Join Chef Hailey from Little Chefs in this fun, hands-on Edible Science program mixing cooking and science on July 23 from 11 to noon.  Kids explore how ingredients may react creating tasty, edible experiments. For children ages 6-11 years.  Space is limited and registration is required. Sponsored by the Friends of the Blanding Library. 

Skoshie & Friends July 30
Skoshie and Friends visit the library on Thurs. July 30 from at 10:30. Local author/illustrator Emely Varosky will tell us about Skoshie, Wisp and Zeek, the characters in her books. For children ages 4 to 10 (siblings welcome) Join us for a fun story time followed by a craft. Sponsored by The Friends of the Blanding Library.

Japanese Folktales & Origami Aug. 5
Parents’ Choice award-winning storyteller Motoko presents Japanese fables with songs, movement and some audience participation for families on Aug 5 from 11 to 12:30. Look for details on more library programs in late summer in the August Reporter.

Story Hours & More 
Tot Time with Miss Joyce for children under 3 is on Tuesdays at 10:30 and Story Hours with Miss Cathy for children ages 3 and up is on Thursdays at 10:30. Siblings are welcome to both groups.

The history discussion group will take a break this summer and return on Wednesday mornings this September, focusing on the Renaissance and the Reformation. Both the evening book club and the afternoon book group will also be taking a break this summer and will return in September.

The Blanding Public Library, at 124 Bay State Rd., Rehoboth is open Monday through Thursday from 10 to 8, and on Friday and Saturdays from 10 to 4. Closed Sundays and holidays.
