North Dighton, MA — The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District (DRRSD) is proud to announce that Lauren Harwood, Director of Instructional Technology & Operations, has been named the New England recipient of the Emerging Technology Leadership Award by Tech & Learning.

Harwood was recognized at the Awards Ceremony following the New England Tech & Learning Innovation Conference, an event that highlights forward-thinking leaders who are transforming teaching and learning through the intentional use of technology.

“Lauren represents exactly what this award is meant to recognize,” said Superintendent Bill Runey. “She doesn’t implement technology for the sake of innovation—she ensures it improves instruction, strengthens student outcomes, and prepares our students to think, create, and compete in a rapidly evolving world.”

Under Harwood’s leadership, DRRSD has taken a proactive and balanced approach to emerging technologies, particularly in the area of artificial intelligence. By establishing clear expectations for responsible and ethical use, the district has seen increased teacher adoption of AI tools and more student-driven learning experiences across classrooms.

She has worked collaboratively within Career and Technical Education programs, including the implementation of immersive learning tools such as zSpace in Advanced Manufacturing and significant technology upgrades in Engineering—ensuring students gain hands-on experience with tools aligned to modern industry standards.

In addition to advancing instructional practices, Harwood has strengthened the district’s cybersecurity awareness and infrastructure, while also enhancing communication systems and the district’s digital presence.

“This recognition reflects the work happening across our entire district,” Harwood said. “We’ve been intentional about creating learning environments where technology supports collaboration, creativity, and real-world application. I’m proud of our educators and students who bring that vision to life every day.”

Harwood’s leadership continues to play a key role in advancing the district’s strategic plan, DRiving Toward 2030, by empowering staff, igniting student curiosity and learning, and shaping the future.
