Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District Adopts Unified PK-12+ Falcon Identity

Posted

N. Dighton, MA — Following months of community engagement and discussion, the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School Committee has approved a districtwide branding initiative establishing a unified PK-12+ identity centered around the Falcon mascot and the District's official green and gold colors.

The decision follows a comprehensive outreach process that included surveys, focus groups, a community Town Hall, and ongoing conversations with students, staff, families, alumni, and community members.
The initiative builds upon the successful branding work introduced at Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School in December 2025 and advances the District's long-term strategic vision, DRiving Toward 2030. The goal is to create a consistent identity that connects students throughout a true cradle-to-career journey—from their earliest learning experiences through graduation and beyond.

The overwhelmingly positive response to the high school's December 2025 branding initiative demonstrated the value of a unified visual identity rooted in community pride, tradition, and student belonging.
"This initiative is about more than logos and colors," Superintendent Bill Runey said. "It's about creating a shared sense of pride, belonging, and identity that begins in our earliest grades and stays with students long after graduation."

Throughout the engagement process, community members shared thoughtful perspectives about school traditions and mascots. While many embraced the opportunity to strengthen districtwide unity, others expressed deep appreciation for the histories and identities of their individual schools.

"We heard those voices clearly," Runey said. "Our schools have rich histories, and those histories deserve to be celebrated and preserved. This initiative is not about erasing the past. It's about building upon it while creating a unified identity for future generations of students."

Implementation of the new branding will begin immediately but will occur gradually and responsibly. Existing uniforms, signage, equipment, and other materials will be replaced as part of normal replacement cycles whenever practical, minimizing costs and avoiding unnecessary waste.

District leaders emphasized that preserving school history remains an important component of the initiative. School traditions, historical artifacts, and the accomplishments that define each school community will continue to be recognized and celebrated as implementation moves forward.

The unified Falcon identity supports the District's cradle-to-career vision by providing students with a consistent sense of belonging throughout their educational experience while strengthening connections among schools, families, alumni, and the broader community.

"As we looked toward the future, we kept coming back to one simple truth," Runey said. "Although our students attend different schools, they are all part of one educational journey, one district, and one DR family. Now, we are all Falcons, and a shared identity reflects that connection."

Additional implementation details will be shared with the community throughout the coming year.
