The 160 members of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School’s Class of 2026 paraded onto the school’s athletic track to the cheers and applause of parents and friends on Friday.
Principal Dustin Demers told the graduates they had left “an indelible mark” on the school.
“You pushed through trials,” Demers said. “You are communicators, collaborators, and critical thinkers. Don’t be afraid to take risks. Shape the world into something better.”
Other speakers included Class President Seamus Sullivan and honor essayist Skyla Stott.
Members of the Senior Chorus performed the Class Song, “Thank You for the Music.”
The High School Band performed “Celebration Fanfare” and “Fanfare Processional.”
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Riley Kazanjian, Student Body President.
“Our goals, values, and dreams have shifted over the course of our high school experience,” said Valedictorian Kaitlyn Arguin. “For many of us, one of the biggest changes was finding confidence and purpose throughout our time at Dighton-Rehoboth. Everything that we experienced shaped us into the people we are today. We leave this building prepared to face the unexpected and to embrace opportunities for growth. Change is unavoidable. We will become change makers.”
“As we move on from high school, it’s important to remember that success isn’t defined by never failing,” said Salutatorian Laura Cruz. “Remember that this diploma is not the end of the journey. It’s proof that we can keep going. Keep showing up, keep growing, and keep becoming the people you want to be.”
Superintendent Bill Runey told the graduates they had been “a class of builders.”
“The story is a district that refused to settle for what it was and instead focused on what it could become. Each of you has played a role in that transformation. You made Dighton-Rehoboth a better place,” he said. “What matters is that you keep moving forward.”
Runey, Demers, and school committee member Eliza Couture handed the diplomas to the graduates, who tossed their caps into the air at the conclusion of the ceremony.
