Barrington, Rhode Island
Barrington resident Jennifer Boylan has been re-elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives in the 2024 election for a second term to represent House District 66 (Riverside, Barrington).
Having served one term in the Rhode Island General Assembly representing House District 66, Representative Boylan is committed to continuing her work on behalf of the people of RI District 66. Throughout her time in office, Representative Boylan has been a strong advocate for protecting the environment, mitigating the effects of climate change, supporting common sense gun laws and reproductive freedom, and supporting small businesses. She served on Barrington’s Ready & Resilient Barrington Advisory Group to develop a Climate Action Plan. In 2023 and 2024, Rep Boylan represented the Rhode Island House of Representatives at two convenings of state legislative leaders on gun violence prevention hosted and organized by the White House’s first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, overseen by Vice President Kamala Harris.
Rep Boylan had many legislative successes in her first term. In 2023, Representative Boylan sponsored and passed legislation allowing 17-year-olds to vote in primary elections as long as they will be 18 by election day. She chaired a House Study Commission examining how Rhode Island school children conduct school safety drills. At the conclusion of that Commission, she passed legislation to reform the way school safety drills are conducted. In 2024, Rep Boylan sponsored and passed diverse bills including a bill to modernize Rhode Island’s alcoholism statute; a bill to regulate electric bicycles; and a bill to require Rhode Island to consider climate change in economic planning.
In 2025, Representative Boylan expects to continue to serve on the House Committee on Environment and Natural Resources and the House Committee on Innovation, Internet and Technology. Her 2025 legislative priorities will focus on addressing climate mitigation/resiliency and environmental protections; addressing microplastics and related pollution; and she will continue to champion and protect gun safety efforts and reproductive health care.
“Serving the people of District 66 has truly been an honor, and I am eager to continue fighting for the issues that matter most to my community,” said Rep Boylan. “I will again work very hard for my constituents to be responsive to their outreach, their needs, and their interests.”
Representative Boylan grew up in upstate New York, graduating from New Hartford High School. She is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College majoring in geology and earned her masters degree in earth and planetary science from Washington University. With a background in science and geology, Representative Boylan spent 14 years as an environmental professional. She worked as a government contractor performing environmental investigations and as litigation consultant helping clients access funding for hazardous waste cleanups. She currently serves as the Director of Operations for PacketLogix. Prior to being elected to the RI House of Representatives, Representative Boylan spent 10 years advocating for common sense gun laws with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
Rep Boylan looks forward to engaging with the people of District 66 in the coming legislative session.
