The family of Deborah J. O'Brien, 64, of East Providence, are saddened to announce that Deb passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center.

Born in Providence, she was the devoted daughter of Dolores M. (Rocha) O'Brien and the late James E. O'Brien. Deb took great pride in her job as head cook at the Evergreen Nursing Home where she worked for 35 years before retiring in 2020 due to illness. Deb enjoyed time spent with family. Her nine nieces and nephews have many great memories of a caring, fun loving aunt, especially her Goddaughter, Brittany, with whom she shared a special bond. Deb was fiercely loyal to the people she loved. She enjoyed trips to the casino to play Bingo, as well as online video games, a good movie, crafts and spoiling her pets.

Besides her mother she will be greatly missed by her six siblings, James E. O'Brien and his wife Wendy, Donna M. Hughes, Pauline H. Medeiros, Michael J. O'Brien, Robert T. O'Brien and his wife Tracy and Tracy A. O'Brien, her nine nieces and nephews and her 11 great nieces and nephews as well as her long time companion, Fred Schifino, many cousins, aunts and uncles and her cherished puppy, Lucy. She was the granddaughter of the late Joseph and Helen Rocha and Joseph and Helen O'Brien and sister- in- law of the late William Hughes.

Her funeral and visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 8:00 AM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 118 Taunton Avenue, East Providence. In lieu of flowers and in keeping with Deb's wishes, contributions to the RISPCA would be appreciated.
