Let’s pack the house "Pink" is the cry from Riverside Middle School boys basketball coach Michael Solitro. Thursday night, February 1st, is a special basketball doubleheader at Riverside Middle School on Forbes Street. The event features both the girls and boys basketball teams in interscholastic league games. "There will be raffles, half court shots, double header basketball and more with free admission," said Solitro. Donations will be happily accepted (but not required) with proceeds going to the Gloria Gemma Foundation. This is a cause that coach Solitro has championed for years dating back to his high school coaching days.

"We would like to thank Sean Ledford & Anchor Bay At East Providence, and John Oliver at Moving Dough Pizza for sponsoring this amazing event! All money raised will go to help the Gloria Gemma Foundation and their fight against Breast Cancer. Through using basketball as a platform, we have raised over $40K to fight this terrible disease, since we began this initiative 10 years ago," added Solitro.

At the conclusion of the games the coaches will be celebrating the 8th grade boys and girls basketball players as well as the 8th grade cheerleaders. "Thank you in advance to everyone for continuing to make this event successful," said Solitro.

The girls game will begin at 4:30 pm followed by the boys game at 6:30 pm. All East Providence is invited to attend to support these young student-athletes and breast cancer awareness.
