Posted

On August 3, nearly 100 golfers from across southern New England took part in Providence Children’s Museum’s 32nd Annual Allen H. Chatterton Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament, held at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, RI. The tournament, presented by Admirals Bank, netted a record $51,000 to benefit the Museum’s hands-on exhibits and innovative educational programs.

The day’s winners included: low net team – John Isberg and team from National Grid; low gross team –Keith Jacobson, Steve Risko, Chris Tarro and Tom Wunderlich; individual low net – Todd Bridges of Collette; and individual low gross – Mike Hogan of TD Bank.

At the evening’s dinner, guests bid $6,350 on silent auction items including rounds of golf at exclusive courses such as Shelter Harbor and Newport Country Club. They also gave $3,600 to support three-dozen charitable memberships for low-income families. A raffle and contest holes around the course brought in an additional $4,490.

Providence Children’s Museum’s annual golf tournament was instituted in 1984 by the late Allen H. Chatterton Jr., an early supporter and board member of the Children’s Museum. The Museum gratefully acknowledges Allen H. Chatterton III – a Rumford resident and president of Chatterton Insurance in Pawtucket – who chaired the tournament for the 26th consecutive year in memory of his father; presenting sponsor Admirals Bank; and exclusive sponsors Amica Insurance (dinner sponsor), Delta Dental of Rhode Island (lunch sponsor), MedeAnalytics (19th hole sponsor), National Grid (cart sponsor), Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island (beverage sponsor) and Nortek, Inc. (putting green sponsor).

The Museum also thanks the tournament committee and additional sponsors: AAA Member Choice Vacations; The Allied Group; Chatterton Insurance, Inc.; COX Communications; DiSanto, Priest & Co.; Duffy & Sweeney, Ltd.; Ned Handy & Polly Chatterton Handy and Shaw McDermott & Hope Chatterton McDermott; Keith Jacobson; LW Blau Restoration; Orion RED; Carol A.
