Vadnais to Conduct Town Budget Review

Posted

Rehoboth Selectmen Chair Skip Vadnais plans to conduct a comprehensive review of the town’s finances. The planning for the FY’25 budget cycle will begin in January.

At Monday’s meeting, Vadnais explained the town is facing “budgetary challenges” and believes closer attention needs to be paid to anticipated expenses and anticipated receipts.

“This is a pivotal year,” Vadnais said. “Our Covid monies are ending.”

Sue Pimental, the Director of Finance and Compliance, said approximately $2.5 million is in the town’s free cash account.

Vadnais instructed Town Administrator Deborah Arruda to obtain a timeline from the town accountant.

“I need to know her timeline on budgets and I want to review it with the board’s permission,” Vadnais added.
