Sturdy Memorial Hospital and MSL Facial and Oral Surgery to Hold Free Oral Cancer Screening

Posted

Attleboro, MA, October 18, 2019 - Sturdy Memorial Hospital is partnering up with area doctors at MSL Surgery to offer free oral cancer screenings to the public.

Oral cancer is dangerous because in its early stages it can go unnoticed. According to the National Cancer Institute, an estimated 53,000 new cases will be diagnosed in the United States in 2019 and an estimated 9,750 people will die of this disease.

Oral cancer can be hard to diagnose because symptoms are often mild and can mimic less serious conditions such as a common canker sore or sore throat. Other symptoms include a painless lump or mass which can be felt inside the mouth or neck, pain or difficulty in swallowing, speaking, or chewing, any wart like masses, hoarseness which lasts for a long time, or any numbness in the oral/facial region. If you notice any of these symptoms, contact your doctor for a thorough evaluation.

The screenings will be held on November 4, 2019 and November 21, 2019 beginning at 3:45 pm with doctors Mo Banki, MD, DMD, FACS and Frank Paletta, MD, DMD, FACS. As space is limited, pre-registration is required. All screenings will take place at MSL Surgery located at 17 N Washington Street in North Attleboro, MA. This program is open to all members of the community. For more information, or to register, please call 508-236-7015.
