John Waterman

John Waterman passed away on May 12th, 2018 in Warren, Rhode Island. He was 89. John was born on March 6, 1929 in Providence and lived most of his life in Providence and Rehoboth Massachusetts.

John attended Moses Brown School, Choate Rosemary Hall and Amherst College and received a bachelor's in political science. After college he joined the Navy during the Korean Conflict and served on the aircraft carrier USS Boxer. John worked as a stock broker in New York City in the 1950s and early 1960s. John's passion was his house and ten acres in Rehoboth. John was an avid gardener and yard tender with his good friend "John Deere." He was an active member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Providence and enjoyed helping out as an usher at many services. John was also a long-time member of the Rehoboth Lion's Club and volunteered with Samaritans suicide prevention hotline.

John was predeceased by his parents, John O. and Louise (Hanson) Waterman and his sister Margaret Gladding and brother-in-law Preston "Pret" Gladding. John is survived by his daughter, Caroline F. Waterman and son John (Jay) O. Waterman, Jay's wife Jennifer Karr Waterman and Jay and Jen's children, John's grandchildren Benjamin, Eliza and Loey Waterman.
