Blair Hamblett, 77, of Rehoboth, passed away surrounded by his close family on December 2, 2023.

Born on June 17, 1946, in Pawtucket, RI, Blair was a passionate man dedicated to his work, hobbies, and family. He resided in Rehoboth, and was employed as a Chief Engineer at multiple locations including: Wheaton College, Morton Hospital, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Westborough State Hospital and Johnson and Wales University. He also worked in water supply and management for several local golf courses.

An alumnus of Coyle High School Class of 1963 and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, he held a Bachelor's degree in Marine & Electrical Engineering. Blair was a dedicated member of several organizations, including the American Legion, Charter member of the National WWII Museum, the Retired State County, and Municipal Employees Association, the Arbor Day Foundation, the Loyal Order of Moose Attleboro Chapter, and the Sierra Club. Blair proudly served his county as a U.S. Merchant Marine.

He enjoyed a plethora of hobbies such as stamp collecting, genealogy, hunting, fishing, and birdwatching, with a particular fondness for hummingbirds. Blair was well-known for his love of travel and cherished the annual summer trips to the Cape with his family. His other pastimes included dining out, solving crossword puzzles, and reading.

Blair is survived by his significant other, Gladys Sis Chace of Rehoboth; his son, Kevin Hamblett and his wife Kerrie Hamblett of Berkley; two grandsons, Keegan and Kyle Hamblett both of Berkley; his cousins, Donna, Claire and Barbara and the Gray and Chace Families; also, his former wife, Barbara Proulx.

He is predeceased by his parents, Winston and Rita Hamblett.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 4-7pm on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 10:30am at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Stevens Corner Cemetery, Route 118, Rehoboth.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rehoboth Firefighters Association, Inc. (RCFA) P.O. Box 313, Rehoboth, MA 02769.
