Rhode Island Tree Council holds Arbor Day Festivities in East Providence

East Providence, RI – The Rhode Island Tree Council (RITree), together will the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management will host Rhode Island Arbor Day ceremonies in East Providence.

Arbor Day is an annual observance that celebrates the role of trees in our lives and promotes tree planting and care. The last Friday in April was designated the official date of Arbor Day by the Rhode Island General Assembly in 1964.

A total of 15 evergreen and shade trees will be planted at the park. They include saplings of Arborvitae, Red maple, Pin oak, American linden and Tuliptree.
Rhode Island Dept. of Environmental Management Director Janet Coit will present America the Beautiful grants, Tree City USA awards and a proclamation in recognition of Arbor Day.

WHERE: The grounds of the North Hull Street Park, North Hull Street

WHAT: The 2021 RI Arbor Day Celebration, a family-friendly event, will feature student participation, a brief speakers and awards program and tree planting. It is free and open to the public.
