Visit Hornbine School for Our Apple Days Celebration

Sunday, October 4th from 2–4 PM

Posted

Join us to celebrate our APPLE DAYS. We will have several old‑fashioned children-friendly games, fun children’s activities, cider and donuts and a community yard sale. While you are visiting, explore our special exhibit, “The 3 R’s: Road to Revolution in Rehoboth.” Discover local connections to key Revolutionary War figures, examine Colonial Currency, and enjoy a pictorial alphabet of Colonial America.

OPEN HOUSE: We welcomed many visitors this summer—from nearby towns, several states, and a number of familiar faces who return year after year. We were especially grateful to have Beverly Pettine and her sister Barbara serve as docents this season. Beverly cared for the school and taught as the primary instructor for 17 years before retiring, and it was a pleasure to have her back sharing the schoolhouse with guests.

VOLUNTEERS: The ongoing success of Hornbine School Museum depends on the generosity and efforts of a number of volunteers. If you enjoy history and teaching, consider emailing us at hornbineschool@gmail.com to learn how you can join our team as a docent or classroom teacher.

REPAIRS: We thank Jerry Baker for repairing our ceiling recently. (see picture) His skilled workmanship is sincerely appreciated.

HORNBINE SCHOOL ANNUAL NEWSLETTER: We’re proud to share our annual Hornbine School newsletter, available now at the Rehoboth Town Library and the Hornbine School. Come pick one up and see what’s new!
