Upcoming Events at The Olde White Church

Posted

Swansea’s Olde White Church Salute to Veterans’ Meat Pie Supper is being held Friday, November 8th from 4-7:30 PM. The First Christian Congregational Church, located at 1113 GAR Highway, Swansea, MA is in its 12th year of providing this “Donation Only” buffet-style supper consisting of a ¼ slice of meat pie, whipped potatoes, veggies, gravy, rolls and dessert. Veterans Day is a holiday intended to thank and honor and celebrate all those who served in the military, in war time as well as in peace time. Acknowledging veterans demonstrates our gratitude for all they do to preserve our freedoms. Our church and “Veterans helping other Veterans Project” has grown to become our church’s largest outreach cause.

ALL donations are converted into food and service gift cards which Kevin Serpa, Swansea’s Veteran’s Officer, distributes throughout the year to Swansea veterans who are truly in need. Last year we were able to raise $7,762, and fed over 300 people. All are invited to come and enjoy the camaraderie, break bread, and participate in honoring our past and present American heroes. During these trying financial times the need is even greater to help Veterans who served in the past and those just returning and/or their families who are in need. Thanking you in advance for helping us, help others in our community.
