Students, faculty, and administrators at Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical School presented donated gifts to representatives from Y.O.U., Inc. and the Santa Foundation on Friday, December 19.

Donated gifts will be given to 14 children and adolescents in The Bridge Home Latency Program and The Bridge Home Adolescent Program of Y.O.U., Inc. of Worcester. The Tri-County community also donated toys, books, clothes, and other items for an additional two Franklin area families with five children.

“The Tri-County community - parents, students, administrators, teachers and staff - came together in a most generous way,” said Tri-County Guidance Counselor Barbara Wnuk. “Each child and every member of the identified families received two bags overflowing with gifts. This is the true spirit of the holiday season.”

Wnuk organizes the school's Holiday Gift Drive each year. The Santa Foundation provides the school with the wish lists of those in need. Career programs, post-secondary programs, clubs, faculty and staff work together to purchase all of the items on the wish list.

Many students assisted in organizing and collecting the gifts, including Graciela Ortega, of Attleboro, Morgan Shields, and Gabrielle Geromini of Bellingham, John Gilmore, of Franklin, Jessica Burlingame, and Amanda Didion, of North Attleborough, Kelsie Rainone, Dakota Eckhardt, Mackenzie Easterbrooks, and Ashley O’Handley, of Plainville, Adriana Oliveira, of Seekonk, Corrinne Lombardi, Pat Kelly, and Megan Morse, of Wrentham.

On Friday, Kyrah Wilder, Terrance Gibson, and Gene Sims, of Y.O.U., Inc., and Tom Timmons and Dick Tomaino, of The Santa Foundation, visited the school to pick up dozens of bags full of presents.

Y.O.U., Inc. is a private, non-profit child welfare and behavioral health organization serving troubled and at-risk children, adolescents and families in Worcester County.

The Santa Foundation was established 28 years ago by Franklin residents Bob and Elaine Sullivan. The foundation's goal is to provide gifts for families in need during the holidays. The Santa Foundation also helps families in need throughout the year.
