The game was tight for all of two innings and then East Providence exploded for a 14-4 pounding of Lincoln High on Monday at EPHS. Lincoln was looking to pay back the Townies after EP beat them recently in Lincoln on a grand slam in extra innings. But the Townies weren't cooperating.
Alex Enright went three for three as the Townies smacked Lincoln High 14-4. Enright doubled and singled in the fourth inning and added another single in the sixth inning to help East Providence break open a 2-2 game. The Townies finally came alive offensively as they scored seven times in the fourth and never looked back.
Lincoln got on the board in the top of the first inning after Lucas Marshall singled to left field and then scored on a wild pitch to jump ahead 2-0. But East Providence tied the game in their half of the second inning after scoring once in the bottom of the first.
East Providence jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Alex Enright doubled to center field, Aidan Martins singled down the right field line, Jayden Healey singled to left field, JJ Renaud walked, Kyle Desrosiers singled down the right field line, Ben Lefty Hallene walked, and Alex Enright singled down the left field line as Townie runners eventually scored seven times. EP would score five more times in the sixth to end the game.
Aidan Martins, Jayden Healy and Kyle Desrosiers each had two hits for East Providence. Palombo, Renaud, Hallene and Correiro each had a hit for EP’s attack at the plate.
Kyle Desrosiers got the complete game win as the pitcher scattered eight Lincoln hits while striking out five. The complete game pitching performance continued a Townie season of good pitching efforts from its hurlers.
The Townies will face a strong test Tuesday afternoon as they travel to La Salle for a 4:30 game against the Rams. The challenges continue as EP will then travel to Moses Brown for a 4:30 game on Wednesday afternoon. Lots of Townie baseball this week as the regular season draws to a close.
