The Townie softball team is off to a 2-0 start after Monday’s mercy rule win over always tough Prout. Under sunny skies and cold April weather, EP prevailed. The 12-2 win featured Emma Bergeron’s triple, double, and a single and the first out-of-stadium homerun from senior catcher Ava Mendence. Ava’s line drive blast quickly cleared the deep left-center field fence for the new stadium's first homerun. The homerun will be a trivia question in years to come; "who hit the first out-of-park homer in the Townies brand new field." A question that softball fans will readily know.

In the top of the 6th, the Townies loaded the bases and promising freshman, Trinity Provencher, ended the game with a walk-off shot hit hard enough to score the runner on 3rd. The Townies next home game is Friday, April 7th against Pilgrim at 5:30 pm. EP travels to take on LaSalle on Wednesday, April 5th at 4:00 pm.
