EPHS Softball rebounds strong after recent loss to Chariho.
Led by Sylvie Patterson’s three hits in a 3 for 4 performance on Thursday, the Townies defeated Prout in a game in Narragansett. Prout scored first, bringing in a run to start the game with a bunt single. A walk and then a stolen base followed by a Lucy Kaiser single to center field which scored Prout’s Manzo. The score remained 1-0 until the fourth inning when the Townies crossed the plate three times in the fourth and three more in the fifth. The Townies scored two more in the seventh inning. In all, East Providence banged out 15 hits for the win.
Patterson singled sharply in the second, fourth and again in the fifth innings. In the top of the fourth, Emma Boisseau led off with a single to left. With one out Audrey Bernard singled to left and then Patterson singled. With the bases loaded, Nethania Figueroa tripled to clear the bases, giving Ep a 3-1 lead. The Townies scored three more in the fifth and two in the seventh.
Cassie Dulude, Audrey Bernard, Ella Grimley, and Emma Boisseau each had two hits for East Providence. Cassie Dulude earned the complete game win on the mound giving up just seven hits and striking out two. EP stole five bases during the game. “We came back strong after a Tuesday loss and didn’t give up. This group of players works hard,” said head coach Katie Solittro. The Townies next game is Tuesday April 14th at North Kingstown.
Baseball suffers first loss on the season
In a game of Division I undefeated teams, East Providence lost to South Kingstown in a 4-1 game played at EPHS Thursday night. South Kingstown took a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a two out scoring play on a wild pitch. The game remained 1-0 until the fourth inning when South Kingstown scored twice. SK brought in another run in the fifth and the Townies only managed its lone run in the seventh. Townie pitchers were starter Tim Robitaille followed in relief by Owen Richards, Kyle Desrosiers and Tyler Dicecco. East Providence only managed five hits in the game. Robatille went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead East Providence’s hitters.
Quinn Matos earned the win for South Kingstown. Matos gave up just five hits and one run for the complete game victory. Matos struck out seven Townies and walked just two. East Providence will take on Toll Gate at home Friday in a 5:30 pm game.

Tennis team plays Smithfield at EPHS Friday at 4:30 pm
EPHS Boys Volleyball
The Boys Volleyball team defeated Barrington 3 sets to 0. The team was led by Jordan Rodriguez with 18 kills and 10 digs, Brandon Mimande with 10 kills and 12 digs and Alex Robinson added 32 assists.
Townie Unified Basketball Wins
The Unified Basketball team beat Hope 48-42. In a home game, Mitchell Snead, Emma Power and Andrew Luiz led the Townie offense.
EPHS Boys & Girls Outdoor Track & Field
The boys outdoor track & field team started their season with an impressive performance at the Class A relays. The following placed at the meet: the 4x200 meter relay consisting of Kwamahn Gilliard, Julian Monteiro, Elijah Bento, and Justin Jardine 1st place, the 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Zack Morreira, Julius Cortes, Julian Monteiro, and Justin Jardine 2nd place, the 4x100 meter relay consisting of Julius Cortes, Elijah Bento, Kwamahn Gilliard, and Jack Pawlik 2nd place, the 4x800 meter relay consisting of Will Massey, Dan Lukusa, Gerry Gagnon, and Will Anthony 8th place. In addition, Justine Jardine, and Jack Pawlik, combined with two members of the girls' team Nazarae Phillip, and Kendra Daniel to place 2nd in the co-ed 4x100 meter relay.
The girls outdoor track team competed Thursday at the Class A Relay Carnival. They finished 2nd overall in Class A. Outstanding performers were Ryley Souto, Nazarae Phillip, Sadie Gagnon, Abby Raphael, Layla Bates, Audrey Lepine and Eva Fontaine.
