Six noontime hours and one evening of pipe organ music, played on 130-year-old pipe organ --All programs are free and open to all
Taunton’s Pilgrim Congregational Church at 45 Broadway is celebrating its 200th birthday this month.
In recognition of its bi-centennial birthday, the church will feature their 1891 Johnson Organ, which was rebuilt in the mid 1990's by the Roche Organ Company of Taunton, in a series of seven free organ music programs featuring seven organists from the American Guild of Organists.
Midday Melodies is a series of six free, one-hour noontime programs of organ music. They will be played on consecutive Thursdays from 12 noon to 1 pm, with the first taking place on the 16th of September.
The following musicians from the American Guild of Organists will perform in the Midday Melodies series:
September 16 Heinrich Christensen, Boston
September 23 John Dulina, Falmouth
September 30 Mary Jodice, Marblehead
October 7 Mary-Katherine Fletcher, Dighton
October 14 Cheryl Duerr, Brewster
October 21 Randall Steere, Westford
The seventh and final program will be a two-hour concert on Saturday, November 6th at 4 pm. It will be played by Steven Young of Bridgewater, the organizer of the concert series and a member of the American Guild of Organists.
