Taunton Civic Chorus to Award Scholarship

Posted

The Taunton Civic Chorus is currently accepting applications for its annual scholarship. TCC will award a $750 scholarship this year to a graduating senior who attends a high school in the Taunton area. Additional scholarships may also be awarded to runner-up applicants.

TCC, the area’s longest running choral group, instituted the scholarship program more than twenty years ago. Each year, the scholarship committee seeks a recipient that has been inspired by chorus, band, dance, private voice or instrumental lessons, or musical theatre, and has demonstrated exceptional involvement in school and community activities as well as exhibits outstanding scholastic achievement.

TCC has awarded nearly 16-thousand dollars in scholarship money to local students. The scholarship is named for the late Bob Keith who was a dedicated member of the chorus.

The current music director of the Taunton Civic Chorus, Matthew Haynes, is a past scholarship recipient.

Awards will be presented at the spring concert Diamond Memories to be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019. The winner(s) will participate in the concert which will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Taunton Civic Chorus.

Complete application guidelines and an application form are available from local high school guidance departments or by request at tauntoncivicchorus63@gmail.com. Applications must be postmarked by March 22, 2019.
