The Rehoboth Board of Selectmen support residents’ right to hold yard sales, as long as there are restrictions.
No outside vendors will be allowed and all signs promoting the sales have to be removed after 24 hours.
“I don’t think our neighbors in this town will appreciate having vendors in their neighborhood,” Selectman Lenny Mills said Monday. “There are all sorts of challenges that could happen depending on how big this gets. I have no problem with a person holding a yard sale. I would let them know on record that they can’t have the outside vendors there.”
Selectman Robert Johnson cited parking as another potential problem. “You can’t park on both sides of the road and expect emergency vehicles to get through,” Johnson said. A vendor fair on Wheaton Ave in 2025 caused massive traffic headaches, Johnson noted.
The Board also approved three year contracts for four town employees, including Lisa Cabral, the Tax Collector and Treasurer, Town Planner Dan Roach, Public Health Nurse Geraldine Hamel, and Building Commissioner William McDonough.
