Seekonk Town Administrator Gets High Marks

Seekonk Town Administrator Shawn Cadime has received a favorable job evaluation from the Board of Selectmen. The review and evaluation were based on the goals and objectives developed jointly by the board and Cadime. “You work tirelessly, not just for yourself, but for the town,” Chairman Justin Sullivan told Cadime at the board’s September 15 meeting.

Cadime thanked the board for their support, noting his accomplishments in the past year was a “team effort.” “If I didn’t have the right people in the right places, it wouldn’t be successful,” Cadime said. Cadime’s goals for the next year include working on an overhaul of the town employee handbook, providing department heads with professional trainings, and securing state and federal grants.

Sullivan instructed Cadime to focus on economic development in an effort to make Seekonk more business friendly. “We need to address this because we have a number of issues,” Sullivan said. We can’t rely on retail (for economic growth). That real estate is going to have to turn over.”

In September 2019, Cadime signed a new three-year contract with the town. Cadime will continue in the position through July 31, 2022. Cadime’s salary was increased to $180, 766 on August 1. Cadime has served as town administrator since 2014. He is also a member of the Fall River City Council.

The selectmen will also be performing some extra duties. Sullivan and Selectman Adam Petronio will serve on the Conservation Commission on a temporary basis until volunteers come forward to fill the open seats. In addition, Selectman Michael Healy will serve as an alternate member on the Zoning Board of Appeals on a temporary basis.
