Richard Thomas Noons, age 79, a longtime resident of North Dighton passed away peacefully with his wife and daughters by his side at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on April 14, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Jeanne (Rogers) Noons with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

He was born in Rehoboth and was the son of the late Alfred and Mary (Baldino) Noons. He retired from D.W. White as a heavy equipment operator and was a proud member of Local 4. He always joked about saluting the mailbox. Richard was a longtime active member of the Rehoboth Lions. He “wore” many hats; one of the hats he wore was delivering medical equipment to people in need. Another hat he wore was being the top ticket seller for fundraisers. He received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, Joseph Durocher Outstanding Service Award, and the President’s Appreciation Award. His interests included camping with the Herring Runners, owning a cabin in Vermont, Disney trips, many vacations with family, playing cards with friends, and traveling the United States.

In addition to his loving wife, Richard is survived by his daughters, Tammy Pope and her husband Scott, and Tracy Harrison and her partner Lenny Raposo; his grandchildren Emily and Benjamin Pope, Victoria and Samantha Harrison; his brother John Noons; his sisters Louise Fortin and Helen Delsignore.

He is predeceased by his siblings, Robert Noons and Grace Chaves.

His visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 18th from 4pm-7pm at the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home at 350 Somerset Street in Taunton. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10am at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 499 Spring St., N.Dighton. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Riverside RI.
