RI High School Playoff Week Continues: The Hunt for the Trophy!

Townies enjoy successful fall season!

A successful fall season puts Townies in Playoffs as most East Providence High School fall athletic teams are winning deep into Rhode Island Interscholastic League playoffs.

EPHS Girls Volleyball
On Tuesday, November 4th, the Townies girls volleyball team defeated La Salle 3 games to 1 and advanced from semifinal action at RI College. It was an impressive run for the Townies who at times, we’re ranked number one in the state. The 15-2 Townies will face top ranked 16-1 North Kingstown on Saturday at RI College for the Division 1 state championship at 4:00 p.m. The lone NK loss came from the Townies. The battle for the title should be an epic one.

EPHS Boys Soccer
The 11-3-5 East Providence boys soccer team will take on 8-7-2 North Kingstown, on Wednesday, November 5th, 7:30 p.m. at Rhode Island College in semifinals. The winner will move on to the state championship match on November 9th at 12 noon at RIC.

EPHS Girls Soccer
The 12-2-2 Townie girls soccer team takes on Prout in a D2 semifinal match at EPHS. The winner will play for the state championship on November 8th, 1:30 p.m. at RI College. The girls have dazzled fans all season.

EPHS Football
The 5-2 Townie football squat will take on Pawtucket in a quarterfinal game at EPHS on Friday November 7th at 6 p.m. The team has steadily improved as the season moves on and is considered a tough team to take on. The winner moves on to the semifinals on Friday November 14 at a site TBD. The championship will be played Sunday November 23, 12:00 p.m. at Cranston Stadium.

EPHS Cheer Team
The East Providence High School Cheer Team, came away with the Division 1 state championship in the RIIL Cheer Competition held at Cranston Stadium on November 1st.

EPHS Special Olympics
In another note, late word in has the Townie team winning the Cornhole Championship. While specific details aren’t in yet, congratulations are in order for the Townies!

EPHS Boys Soccer Awards:
Some early boys soccer team awards have been announced according to coach Tim Calouro. The following players received RIIL awards:
Julian Monteiro, 1st team All Division, 1st team All Conference, and 1st team All State.
Tristen Nunes achieved 1st Team All Division, 2nd team All Conference. 2nd team All State.
Kyle Desrosiers, Nigel Fernandes, and Damian Monteiro were recognized as 2nd team All Division.
Kayson Tavares earned 3rd team All Division.
Rafael Ferreira received the Senior Recognition Award.
