Leonard M. Sousa, 72, of East Providence, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of Bernice A. (White) Sousa. Leonard loved his wife deeply and valued the life they shared for over thirty years.
A native Rhode Islander, Leonard was raised in Bristol. He was predeceased by his parents, the late Joseph B. and Noreen C. (Tavares) Sousa.
Before he retired, Leonard enjoyed a diverse career, working in numerous roles across different industries. After acquiring his pilot’s license, Leonard enjoyed flying locally with family and friends. He and Bernice traveled extensively. They visited Europe, many tropical islands, and enjoyed many river cruises abroad. He loved animals and always had treats ready for the neighbor’s dogs. Leonard enjoyed cooking, scuba diving, working in his yard, and maintaining his gardens. He was an Air Force Veteran.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his nephew, Eli F. Connors and his wife Kristen of Bethel, CT, as well as several cousins and many friends. He was the brother of the late Joseph R. Sousa and Lynn Marie Connors.
His funeral service and visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a service to follow at 2:00 PM.
