Joyce Grassie

Joyce Grassie, 87, passed away on January 21, 2022. She was the loving wife of Everett W. Grassie, Jr. Joyce was born in Dighton and was the daughter of the late Frank Costa and Lucy (Mello) Costa. Mrs. Grassie was employed for many years as a Special Education Coordinator with the Dighton/Rehoboth School System and also worked as a bank teller for several years in Providence, RI. Joyce was an avid golfer and also had a passion for skiing. She was a longtime member of the West Dighton Christian Church. Joyce enjoyed summers by the ocean, soaking up the sun in Cape Cod and ski trips up north, and spending time with her family in Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Grassie also enjoyed camping trips; in particular the days they spent together at Deer Cap Campground in Ossipee, NH and Peter's Pond Park in Cape Cod. Later in life, Joyce and her husband enjoyed passing the winter months at their home in Florida.

Joyce will be remembered as a kind, caring, woman of faith, who cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Mark D. Grassie and his wife Rosalind of North Dighton and Wendy B. ODell and her husband William of Bristol, RI; siblings, Raymond Costa of Florida, and Lucille Hay of South Carolina; grandchildren, Kimberly and Nicholas Grassie, Colin and Kyle ODell; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Kyla, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Frank Costa, Roger Costa, Elaine Barrow, and Madeline Gracia. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 2-4pm in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton. Prayers and words of remembrance will begin in the funeral home at 4pm. Masks are required for all in attendance.
