Josephine Joy, 91, formerly of Unity Avenue and Redfern Grove Apartments, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late James M. Joy.

Born in Castleisland, Ireland she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Ellen (Mahoney) McCarthy. Mrs. Joy was a communicant of St. Martha's Church. She was one of ten children and the last surviving sibling.

She leaves four children, Patrick J. Joy and his wife Rosemary of Nebraska, Julia G. Herrington of Texas, James B. Joy of New Hampshire and Eileen T. Botelho and her husband Anthony J. of Seekonk, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Martha's Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 5-8.
