Jean Marie Saccone

Posted

Jean Marie Saccone (referred to as “Goggie” by her grandchildren) passed away in her home on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at the age of 87. Born in Providence RI, Jean was the daughter of the late John and Mildred (Medbery) O’Brien, and sister to the late Russell O’Brien. She was married to her late husband Ron for almost 62 years, with whom she had three children. She leaves her daughters: Susan Saccone-Sullivan and her husband, Mark, of Falmouth MA; Lori Barao and her husband, Mark, of Myrtle Beach SC; and Lynn Mowry and her husband, Tom, of Seekonk MA. She also leaves eight granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, five great-grandanimals; her dear sister-in-law, Evelyn Belanger of Cranston RI; and many wonderful friends.

Jean was immensely loved by everyone who knew her. She was known for her practical jokes, and her infectious sense of humor and quick wit brought much laughter to our lives. She was a beacon of comfort and strength, and she nurtured and cherished her close relationships with her family. She would do anything for her loved ones, and she was a constant support for all of us. Her faith was very important to her, and the effects of her rich spiritual life were evident in many aspects of her life, from her gentle kindness to her resilience in times of hardship.

Jean had the ability to find joy in every moment, no matter what she was doing. When her grandchildren were young, she and Ron spent a lot of time with them on Cape Cod during the summer, enjoying time at the beach, having cookouts, and eating maple walnut ice cream. Beginning in 2001, Ron and Jean spent six months of the year in Naples FL where they enjoyed outings with their friends, playing golf, and riding their bikes in the neighborhood. Jean loved working in her garden and watching the birds in her backyard just as much as she loved traveling overseas and exploring new places. She enjoyed baking and cooking, and she hosted many holidays and celebrations over the years, gathering everyone together to create such special memories that we will treasure for a lifetime. Her competitive nature led her to maintain the longest winning streak in card games with Ron, her children, and her son-in-laws. Jean took great pride in her job as a bookkeeper with Arden Corporation, and she fully retired at 86-years-old.

Jean is deeply missed by her family and friends. May she rest in peace, knowing just how much she was loved by all who knew her. The service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Seekonk MA. The mass will be streamed on the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/OLMCSeekonkMA
