Irene A. (Britto) Miranda, 93, of East Providence passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Home. She was the wife of the late Manuel Miranda to whom she was married 41 years.

Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Antonio F. and Annie T. (Braz) Britto. Mrs. Miranda was a Phlebotomist at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital for 30 years followed by many years in the East Providence School Department mentoring children. She was a communicant of St. Margaret Church, served as a Eucharistic Minister and was also a member of the Choir. She was a member of the East Providence Community Chorus. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Nurses, CNA’S and staff at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Home for the loving care she received over the last 7 years.

She leaves two sons, Michael M. Miranda and Timothy A. Miranda and his wife Lori, three grandchildren, Alicia, Victoria and Anthony, three great grandchildren, Ethan, Antonio and Willow, three sisters, Delores Plourde, Ann Marie Crawley and Jeanette Britto, one brother, David Britto and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Juliann Nary and sister of the late Theodora Gomes, Eva Thatcher, Beatrice Palmer and Gertrude Ramos.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM in St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations to Hattie Ide Chaffe Home, c/o Activities Fund, 200 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside, RI 02915 would be appreciated.
