Howard W. McVay, Jr. 94, of Riverside, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care. He was the beloved husband of Betty I. (Locke) McVay to whom he was married for 67 years. Born in Providence, RI he was a son of Capt. Howard W. McVay, Sr. and Marjorie A. (Jellison) McVay.

Mr. McVay served in the Marine Corp. and was a veteran of the Korean war. He worked as a commercial insurance underwriter in the marine industry until he retired. He was an avid sailor and loved being on the water. He always looked forward to his annual hunting trips with the guys to Maine. Later in life, he enjoyed sitting on his deck watching the ships go by and waiting for the neighborhood dogs to stop by for their daily treats.

Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Douglas (Cheryl) McVay of Warwick, Paul (Kris) McVay of Riverside, Judy (Jeffrey) Oberg of Barrington, seven grandchildren, Christopher (Bex) McVay, Derek (Lauren) McVay, Jason (Pam) McVay, Robert (Amber) McVay, Thomas (Briana) McVay, Michael (Tess) Oberg, Lauren (Garrett) Dunnells and seven great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late, Kenneth A. McVay, Ernest H. McVay, George W. McVay

His funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions to, Hope Health Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or Seekonk Congregational Church, 600 Fall River Ave, Seekonk, MA 02771, would be appreciated.
