HopeHealth introduces free educational workshops for family caregivers

Posted

If you’re caring for a loved one with a life-limiting illness, you may be navigating challenges you never imagined, and looking for answers to questions that are hard to ask. Starting this summer, you can sign up for free educational workshops with experts who can help.

HopeHealth, a regional leader in hospice, palliative and home health care, has long championed free education for clinicians in the community, on topics spanning its full family of services. This summer, it expands its educational offerings with the virtual Caregiver Confidence Series, designed especially for family caregivers.

“For anyone caring for a loved one, the right information, at the right time, can mean the difference between feeling helpless and feeling hopeful,” says Deanna Upchurch, MA, HopeHealth’s director of Clinical Outreach Services. “Our Caregiver Confidence Series is dedicated to helping caregivers in the community get the information that they need, at a time when they really need it.”

HopeHealth’s Caregiver Confidence Educational Series kicks off in late June with three topics, offered in both English and Spanish.

• Home Care, Palliative Care, and Hospice: Making the Right Choice
• Advanced Directives: What Families Should Know
• Comfort for Caregivers: Strategies for Dealing With Caregiver Stress

The 90-minute virtual workshops are free and open to the public. Like all of HopeHealth’s educational programming, they’re also live, interactive and taught by leaders in the field.

“HopeHealth has always found ways to support and empower families who care for their ill loved ones at home, from caregiver support groups to hands on-training. I’m so proud that this now includes the Caregiver Confidence Series,” says HopeHealth Clinical Educator Lisa Wasson, RN, CHPN, CMDCP. “I don’t know of another program that offers this quality of education and expertise – for free – to caregivers in the community.”
