Holidays Come Alive in Newport for December Newport Gallery Night

Posted

The sea breeze in Newport is even more chilling this time of year, but that won’t stop the streets downtown from buzzing with warmth and excitement for the holiday season. The Newport Gallery Organization is proud to contribute to this buzz as galleries around Newport and Middletown prepare for December Newport Gallery Night on Thursday, December 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm! From fine art, sculpture, and decorative glass work, to handmade jewelry, and winter accessories, the last Gallery Night of 2019 brings opportunities to see everything that Newport’s local artisans have on display. These unique art pieces are affordable and perfectly giftable!

December Newport Gallery Night is a featured event on the 49th Annual Christmas in Newport calendar! Christmas in Newport is an initiative that enables Newport businesses and organizations to cooperate in creating a joyful holiday experience for community members and visitors!

At Jessica Hagen Fine Art & Design, member artists will display beautiful contemporary works for the 14th Annual Holiday Show! A reception will be held on Saturday, December 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm where guests can meet the artists whose talents and visions make it all possible.

Those looking for unique gifts that may not be traditional fine art should check out Thames Glass. Glass ornaments, snowmen, fish, fruits and vegetables, and tableware line the shelves and are sure to delight. Everything is handblown and shaped by master craftsman Matthew Buechner and his passionate team, ensuring that years of time and practice go into everything they make!

The Redwood Library and Athenaeum has long stood as a cultural center in Newport, as exemplified by their newest exhibit featuring the rare private photographs of Great Depression Era documentarian Russel Lee. History-buffs and photography-nerds alike would absolutely appreciate a membership to the Redwood’s treasures, just waiting to be discovered with friends and family.

Afterward, grab a bite at one of the 7 participating restaurants that work with the Newport Gallery Organization. Free parking is always available at the Gateway Visitors Center and uptown at the Newport Art Museum.
