Henry A. Vandersip

Henry A. Vandersip, 88, died November 8, 2021, in hospice care at his home in East Providence after a long illness. He was born in Providence to the late Henry and Julia (Kytic) Vandersip.

Known as Hank by family and friends, he graduated from Hope High School in 1950, served in the Marine Corp. and graduated from Brown University with the class of 1956 with an ScB in mechanical engineering. He was awarded his professional engineering license that same year.

He owned and operated Heatron Inc. in Warwick, RI until he retired due to illness.

He served as President of the Brown Class of 1956 for many years and hosted a reunion gathering at his home during commencement weekend that brought together alumni from many classes.

In honor of distinguished service to Brown University’s class program and exemplary leadership of alumni volunteers and friends he was awarded the Nan Tracy ’46 Class Officer Award by the Brown Alumni Association and the Brown Alumni Service award.

He is survived by his wife, Phebe (Phillips) Vanderssip, two sons, Gregory and Steven Vandersip, a brother, Clifton Vandersip, and a sister, Virginia Vandersip.

To honor Henry’s wishes, funeral and burial will be private.
