GFWC Taunton and Raynham Jr. Woman's Club News

The GFWC Taunton and Raynham Jr. Woman's Club met at Homes for Troops on Main Street in Taunton for their November business meeting. on Monday night. Arts chairman Kathleen Sampson from Somerset introduced a project which the women completed that evening by assembling a patriotic bandana wreath for Homes for Troops. Members also brought in photos of family member veterans to share and honor. Member Cindy Brogan of Taunton, a veteran herself, held up each photo and asked the member to introduce her relative and tell a little bit about them. Other business which took place that evening was the clubs involvement in Suffrage 100 project for 2020, and Nancy Brown of Dighton read a Bio on Lucy Stone who was an orator and supporter of women's suffrage. The club has raised a thousand dollars to have its name included in the proposed monument for the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to be erected in Virginia next August honoring the women who fought to gain the right to Vote for women.
